Supporting your skin in your 50’s and beyond.

Ingredients & skincare you should & shouldn’t be using in your skincare to support your skin through your50’s & beyond.

We all know that there are ingredients in our food that help support our health & ingredients that don’t support our heath, the same applies to skincare.

In your 50s your skin function becomes as slow as a snail.

Signs of aging have crept in, lines have formed, pigmentation has made its way to the surface.

We need to speed up the function & support your skin from the inside & out.

Our DON’T USE list of ingredients/products:

·      SOAP / Sodium Laurlth Sulphate & its friends – these ingredients strip your skin of its natural function, all of its oils & the friendly bacteria on the surface of your skin. Once you stop using these ingredients you will find that your skin may over compensate the other way e.g.Going from not being oily to being overly oily, while it balances itself out.

·     Extremely granular scrubs – you don’t need to use granular scrubs. End ofStory.

·     Synthetic or mineral oils, artificial fillers, additives or synthetic fragrances. - These unhealthy and cheap fillers won’t have the same affinity with the skin that natural oils have. Meaning they can overly coat, block or irritate your skin. Usually found in cheaper, mass produced products.

·      Alcohol toners – We need all the good oils we can get in our50s & using an alcoholic toner will strip what’s left.

·      AHAs & BHAs (lactic acid, glycolic acid etc) – these ingredients should only be used if your skin is strong enough to support the reaction that they create.

Our DO USE list of ingredients/products:

·      SUNSCREEN – it’s never too late to use an SPF. Helping to block free-radical damage to your skin cells, SPF helps slow the aging process& support your skin cells.

·      FACE OILS – Avocado oil, Rose hip oil, Jojoba oil, etc or a mix of them all isESSENTIAL at night to re-supply your natural oil supply which creates the foundation of your skin and cells.

·      Vitamin Serum – our skin needs the support of vitamins A, B,C & E topically to support cell formation. A serum uses smaller molecules to deliver the ingredients to exactly where they need to be in your skin for support. Vitamin A will help with the turnover of new skin cells and is a great additive to your routine 2ce a week.

·      OIL CLEANSER – as we age our cells require good oils to keep them plump and supported, an oil cleanser makes sure the first step in your skincare routine support this with a good oil exchange. It takes away the dirt and gross oil & replaces it with skin supporting oils.

·      Hyaluronic Acid / HYDRATING LOTION – keeping the hydration levels of your skin, especially if you don’t drink enough water (be real a lot of us don’t, will help replenish the supporting network in your skin cells and surrounds.

·      ENZYME EXFOLIATION – if your skin needs some help with its turnover, a form of enzyme exfoliation is the preferred method. An enzyme exfoliant 1ce a week will help any sluggish skin cycle.
